1. Who we are and what this policy covers
ContainerIntermodal.com (the “Site”) is an online directory that helps shippers, importers, exporters, and freight professionals find drayage and intermodal carriers in the United States. The Site is operated by [Legal entity name, e.g. Container Intermodal LLC] (“we,” “us,” or “our”), [Registered mailing address].
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and disclose it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to visitors, people who send quote requests, and people who create accounts or company listings. It does not apply to the websites or practices of carriers or other third parties, even if you reach them through the Site.
By using the Site you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Service govern your use of the Site generally.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and password (stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash).
- Company listing information: company and legal entity name, office address, general phone and email, website, logo, year established, services, equipment, terminal coverage, fleet and yard details, regulatory identifiers (such as USDOT, MC, and SCAC numbers), certifications, insurance documents you upload, and the name and email of the company’s owner or director.
- Quote requests: your name, email address, phone number, and the shipment details and message you write.
- Listing claim requests: your name, email, phone, job title, and the information you provide to show you represent the company.
- Payment information: when you buy a paid plan, our payment processor Stripe collects your card and billing details directly. We receive only limited information from Stripe, such as the plan purchased, payment status, the last digits and brand of the card, and a customer reference.
- Communications: messages you send us and our replies.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: IP address, browser type, device and operating system, pages requested, referring page, and date and time of the request. We use a hashed form of the IP address to limit repeated sign-in and form attempts.
- Cookies and local storage: see Cookies and similar technologies.
Information from other sources
To review company listings we may consult public sources, such as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s public registration and safety records, and the company’s own website.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information other than account login credentials, which we use only to secure your account.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- operate the directory, publish approved company listings, and show search results;
- deliver your quote requests to the carriers you select and let them reply to you;
- create and secure accounts, review listings and claim requests, and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse;
- process payments for paid plans and keep billing and tax records;
- send service messages, such as request confirmations, account and security notices, receipts, and renewal notices;
- respond to questions and support requests;
- maintain, debug, and improve the Site;
- comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights and the rights and safety of others.
We may create aggregated or de-identified information (for example, the number of quote requests per city) that does not identify you. We will not try to re-identify de-identified information.
4. How we disclose information
We disclose personal information only as follows:
- To carriers, at your direction. When you send a quote request, we send your name, contact details, and request to each carrier you selected. Carriers use it under their own privacy practices, not ours.
- To the public, for listings. Approved company listing details are published on the Site, except the owner or director name and email, insurance documents, and internal review notes, which stay private.
- To service providers. Companies that host the Site, store data, deliver email, and process payments (including Stripe) handle information on our behalf under contracts that limit their use of it.
- For legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer. As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy.
- With your consent, or as you otherwise direct.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising, as those terms are defined in US state privacy laws. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
6. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Accounts and listings: while the account or listing is active, then up to 24 months after it is closed, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Quote and claim requests: up to 24 months after submission.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, generally 7 years.
- Server and security logs: up to 12 months.
We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
7. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as required by applicable law.
8. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- stop sending you any marketing email.
You can edit most account and listing information yourself in your dashboard. For anything else, email [privacy@containerintermodal.com]. We will verify your identity, usually by confirming control of the email address on file, and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why. We may keep information we are legally required to retain.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You will still receive service messages, such as receipts and security notices, while you have an account.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have the rights described in Section 8, plus the right to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, and profiling.
